Ways of Giving

There are many different ways to contribute to funding for 4-H youth programs in the State of Maine. Because the Pine Tree State 4-H Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, your donation to the Foundation is tax-deductible.

Annual Campaign Gifts:
A cash gift to the Foundation's Annual Campaign helps meet the immediate needs of Maine 4-Hers.  Funds raised by the Annual Campaign, in combination with a percentage of the Foundation's investment earnings, support ongoing programs.

Endowment Gifts:  Making a gift to the Foundation's endowment is making an investment in the future of 4-H.  Interest earned from endowment gifts is used to fund programs at a later date.

Honorary or Congratulatory Gifts:  When you need a special way to recognize or remember somone, honor that person or their memory with a gift to the Foundation.  A special card is sent to the person or family you have remembered and you are recognized as well.

In-Kind Gifts and Gifts of Real Estate:  The Foundation welcomes gifts in the form of donated marketable securities, surplus equipment, or services.  The Foundation also accepts gifts of real estate, through the University of Maine Foundation's 4-H Foundation fund.

Bequests:  Making a bequest by writing a gift to the Foundation in your will is an excellent way to benefit Maine youth through the 4-H program.  There are also a variety of options to make a gift over an extended period of time.  Funds can be set up to establish a 4-H scholarship or fund a county endowment as well.

The Charles F. Allen Society:  The Charles F. Allen Society, established in 1995, recognizes alumni and friends who intend to support the university and its foundations (including the 4-H Foundation) by making a bequest or other form of planned or deferred gift of $10,000 or more.  Members receive a newsletter highlighting current events, a society pin, and a membership certificate recognizing their intentions.  If you are interested in becoming a member of the Charles F. Allen Society or have already provided for the University of Maine Foundation or 4-H Foundation in your will, you automatically qualify for membership in the society.  Please inform us of your intentions and we will make sure you are invited to become a member!

Gifts of Life Insurance:  Gifts of life insurance can be made by designating the Pine Tree State 4-H Foundation as your beneficiary.  Premium payments are tax-deductible up to the legal limit and the entire value of the policy is set up as a gift from the start of the policy.

Charitable Remainder Trusts, Charitable Gift Annuities, and Pooled Life Income Funds:  These charitable giving tools provide excellent opportunities to make a charitable gift and, at the same time, maximize your family's financial security.  The Foundation's partners at the University of Maine Foundation are available to help provide legal and technical expertise to assist you.
