Course Description: An introduction to the identification, distribution, taxonomy, silvics, and utilization of North American tree species.  Emphasis is on the dominant forest cover types typical of each region of the U.S. Northeastern species will be examined in detail together with their associated shrub and herbaceous communities. Lectures will complement outdoor laboratories. Soil-site associations, disturbance factors, wildlife habitat and use relationships of major tree species, are included.
