Financial Information

Tuition and fees for orientation, program activities and excursions during the year amount to $6,500 for consortium members or $7,200 for non-consortium members. Students wishing to study for one semester only pay $4,500 or $5,000 respectively.
For detailed, up-to-date financial information, please contact us.

Our best estimate of the cost of a full year in Salzburg is about $15,900* and breaks down as follows:

$6,500 Tuition/activities charge*
$6,100 room and board
$300 books, supplies, incidentals
$2,500 travel expenses, pocket money, miscellaneous expenses

*based on consortium member rate

Checks for these amounts only, made payable to the University of Maine, Salzburg Program are due on July 1 (December 1 for spring semester students). Except in special cases (see Financial aid) late payments will be assessed a fee of 10%.

Please note that estimated expenses are dependent on individual participants and their lifestyle and travel plans as well as the current exchange rate.

Financial Aid
If students already obtain some type of financial aid through their home institution, they will quite likely be eligible to continue receiving such aid while they study in Salzburg.

Due to usual delays in the processing of financial aid, however, we must require a down payment of $500 by July 1 (or December 1 for the Spring students) of recipients to cover matriculation fees at the Universität Salzburg.

Since the Salzburg Program tuition fee for students enrolled at the University of Maine in Orono is charged directly against the student's regular university bill, no down payment is required. The tuition will be applied to the student's regular bill on July 1.
