 A prototype link connection segment was fabricated with inset bearings and used to test the design's resistance to tearout and bearing failure.  Above are photos of the test apparatus (left) and of the bearing deformation (right) after the maximum load was applied.

Pictured above (left and right) is the impact testing apparatus. Due to the amount of time required to fabricate a full length prototype link, test samples were made by encasing a rubber block with the same dimensions as our design with the appropriate number of carbon fiber layers and orientation of those layers.
