Other Information

Heat pump technology is useful in many applications, from small-scale residential climate control to large industrial heat recovery systems. Our partner design team this year has been working on a heat recovery system in Barrows Hall/ Engineering Science and Research Building. Please visit thier website on the links page.

Some unique applications include municipal water heat recovery such as the system in Old Town, ME, or fish farm heating like the Maine Halibut Farms in Franklin, ME. Any industrial process that creates excess heat can benefit from a heat pump. Heat pumps capture and transport heat that can be used for drying and dehumidification purposes, distillation and evaporation, generation of hot water and steam, and for space heating.
