Project Overview

Project Ursa is the design and construction of a sounding rocket used to generate interest in engineering within the local community and schools. The primary mission of the rocket is to fly to an altitude of at least 100,000 feet while collecting atmospheric data and HD video. The rocket will also compete for the Carmack Prize, which requires the rocket to transmit GPS data continuously during its ascent. Finally, the sounding rocket will feature a payload section intended to encourage collaboration and sustainability of the project.
