Biography
Mary Ellen Symanski has been on the School of Nursing faculty for 18
years. In addition to her work on the faculty, she practices as a per
diem staff nurse in neonatal intensive care. Dr. Symanski teaches mostly
maternal-newborn topics and teaches May Term NUR 310. Her research
interests are in the area of premature newborn sleep states and teaching
new mothers about parenting. She is also interested in space exploration
and published an article in the American Journal of Nursing (AJN) on
nurses' potential roles in an expedition to Mars.
