Biography
I first became interested in nursing while attending Poland Regional High School, in Poland Maine. During my junior year, I had the opportunity to take a pre-nursing course through my local technical center. It was a year-long course preparing for CNA certification, as well as more in-depth learning about the field of nursing itself. After my first day of clinicals, I knew I wanted to become a nurse some day, and here I am a couple of short years later fulfilling my dream at UMaine.

I have worked for over a year as a CNA at a long-term care facility, specializing on the skilled/rehabilitation unit at Clover Healthcare in Auburn, Maine. Being a CNA has really made me appreciate life and try to enjoy all I can while maintaining a positive outlook.

I also enjoy spending time with my family as they are number one in my life. Three very special members of my family are my Labrador retrievers, Bailey, Parker, and Rosa. When I'm on campus, I keep busy through my role as Secretary of the Orono Student Nurses’ Association, Co-Chair of Games Night on the Campus Activities Board, Programming Representative for the Somerset Hall Governing Board, and as a part of Alternative Spring Break. I am also a member of the Student Nurses’ Association of Maine and the National Student Nurses’ Association. When I'm not doing school work or being involved in student organizations, I enjoy hanging out with friends, working on my Mary Kay business, and doing just about anything.
My goal is to get my undergraduate BSN degree in Spring 2008 and then I would like to do travel nursing for a period of time to gain experience and see new places, though I plan to eventually settle back in this great state of Maine!
