Bylaws for the
"Extension Section"
 under the Articles of Constitution of The Potato Association of America

Article VIII of the constitution of The Potato Association of America provides for the creation of sections and prescribes that each section may develop bylaws for the conduct of its affairs provided that such bylaws do not conflict with the constitution and bylaws of The Potato Association of America.

  1. Name

    2. The name of the Section shall be: The Extension Section of The Potato Association of America.

  2. Purpose

    3. The Extension Section serves two major purposes:

    1. to promote communication among people involved in extension and education activities through the exchange and development of concepts dealing with the production, storage and marketing of potatoes; and

    2. to develop appropriate information and/or educational programs through PAA on behalf of its members.

  3. Membership

    4. Membership is open to members of The Potato Association of America.

  4. Officers

    1. The officers of the Section shall be a Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary-Treasurer who will be elected annually with Vice-Chair moving up as Chair.

    2. The duties of the officers shall be those customarily pertaining to these offices, and will begin at the conclusion of the annual business meeting.

    3. The Chair shall serve as an ex-officio member of the Executive Committee of The Potato Association of America.

  5. Executive Committee

    6. The Executive Committee shall consist of the current officers and the immediate Past Chair.

  6. Meetings

    1. An annual meeting of the Section shall be held within the time framework of the Annual Meeting of The Potato Association of America. Additional meetings may be called at the Chair's discretion.

  7. Committees

    8. The Chair shall appoint any special committees as may be required to serve the needs of the Section.

  8. Funds

    9. The Section officers shall have the responsibility for administering Section funds.

  9. Publications

    1. Minutes of Section meetings shall be recorded, reproduced and distributed to Section members.

    2. Other publications shall be issued on an as-needed basis.

  10. Amendments to the Bylaws

    11. These bylaws may be amended at any Annual Meeting of the Section provided the amendment is approved by a vote of at least two-thirds of the members in attendance following notice of motion and that copies of such notice shall be mailed by the Chair to each member at least four weeks prior to the Annual Meeting.
