- Name:
The name of the Section shall be: Plant Protection of The Potato Association of America.
- Purpose:
The Plant Protection Section serves two major purposes:
- to promote communication among people involved in Pathology, Entomology and Weed Control through the exchange and
development of concepts dealing with disease and insect aspects of seed and commercial potato production, storage and marketing; and
- to develop appropriate research, information and /or educational programs through PAA on behalf of its members.
- Membership
Membership is open to members of The Potato Association of America.
- Officers
The officers of the Section shall be a Chair, Vice-chair, Secretary and a 1-year Director who will be elected annually. Each year the
officers shift up one position with Vice-Chair becoming Chair, the Secretary becoming Vice-chair and the Director becoming Secretary. A
Treasurer shall be appointed by the officers and shall serve on a permanent basis until replaced voluntarily or at the request of the officers
or section general membership.
- The duties of the officers shall be those customarily pertaining to these offices, and will begin at the conclusion of the annual
business meeting.
- The Chair shall serve as an ex-officio member of the Executive Committee of The Potato Association of America.
- Executive Committee:
The Executive Committee shall consist of the current officers and the immediate Past Chair.
- Meetings
An annual meeting of the Section shall be held within the time framework of the Annual Meeting of The Potato Association of America.
Additional meetings may be called at the Chairs discretion.
- Committees:
The Chair shall appoint any special committees as may be required to serve the needs of the Section.
- Funds:
The annual membership fee is $2.00. The Section officers shall have the responsibility for administering Section funds.
- Publications:
Minutes of Section meetings shall be recorded, reproduced and distributed to Section members. Other publications shall be issued
on an as-needed basis.
- Amendments to the Bylaws:
These bylaws may be amended at any Annual Meeting of the Section provided the amendment is approved by a vote of at least two-thirds
of the members in attendance following notice of motion and that copies of such notice shall be mailed by the Chair to each member at least
four weeks prior to the Annual Meeting.
