The Call for Abstracts for the poster session of the 2006 Maine Water Conference has closed. Guidelines for those invited to present at the Conference are outlined below.

POSTER CHAIR

The Poster Chair for the conference is Whitney King from Colby College. Questions regarding poster submissions should be addressed to Whitney at dwking@colby.edu.

JURIED POSTER COMPETITION (undergraduate & graduate)

The juried student poster competition is co-sponsored by the U.S. Geological Survey and the Senator George J. Mitchell Center.

Guidelines for poster presentations

  • Maximum size: 4ft x 3ft (landscape).
  • Posters do not need to be mounted. Push pins are provided.
  • Posters are judged on the following criteria:
    1. Clarity of scientific concept/hypothesis.
    2. Visual organization of presentation.
    3. Clarity of expression.
    4. Understanding of project and results.
    5. Scientific merit/relevance (graduate only)

An Adobe Acrobat document which provides some useful advice on how to design successful poster presentations is available for download. There is also a booklet available in pdf format from The Oceanography Society that also provides some useful tips on successful poster design.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS
Students submitting posters to the 2006 Maine Water Conference are entitled to a discounted registration fee of $20. Please note that due to space limitations, admission is limited to two students per poster submission.
