Seminar - Art, Ecoventions & Change: A Look at Contemporary Art Practice

The term ecovention describes an artist-initiated project that employs an inventive strategy to intervene in or transform a local ecology. Ecoventions usually involve collaborations between artists, community members and local specialists such as ecologists, botanists, landscape architects or urban planners.
All are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Position opening - Science Information Coordinator
The Mitchell Center invites applications for the position of Science Information Coordinator. This position will facilitate and enhance communications, outreach and research activities as part of a research coordination network focused on diadromous fish species in eastern North America. BA/BS degree required; preference given to applicants with a scientific background. Experience editing scientific documents, web publishing and desktop publishing preferred.

WRRI National Competitive Grants Program (104g)
Application deadline for investigators: Feb. 20, 2009
The Request for Proposals for the Water Resource Research Institute (WRRI) National Competitive Grants Program (104g) has been issued. Awards are available only to Water Research Institutes. However, any investigator at an accredited institution of higher learning in Maine is eligible to apply for an award through the Maine Water Institute.

2009 Maine Water Conference

The 2009 Maine Water Conference will be a combined meeting with the Northeastern Section of the Geological Society of America (NEGSA). The NEGSA meeting is a three-day meeting scheduled for March 22-24. One day of the meeting - Tuesday, March 24 - will be geared towards Maine Water Conference sessions.
Call for Abstracts
The Call for Abstracts for the 2009 Maine Water Conference is now open. Please note that because this is a combined conference with NEGSA, submission procedures differ from the usual MWC process.
