Welcome to the website of the Rising Tide Center at the University of Maine!
Our work at the Rising Tide Center is guided by the notion that “a rising tide lifts all boats.” Taking a systemic view of our organization and informed by a rigorous program of data collection and analysis, we seek to enhance our campus community by supporting policies and practices that promote a positive working climate for all UMaine faculty.
Funded in 2010 by the National Science Foundation as part of its ADVANCE Institutional Transformation program, the Rising Tide Center is charged with recruiting, retaining, and advancing women faculty in the sciences. At the same time, we recognize and value our mission to improve the climate for all faculty.
Here you will find information about our programs and activities, reports of data collected for the project, and links to both on- and off-campus resources useful to women in academic sciences, all faculty members, department chairs, and academic administrators. We invite you to peruse our pages and urge you to contact us if you have resources to share or questions about our programs and mission.
