Pest Counts High: Earworm, Corn Borer and Armyworm Threaten All Stages of Corn

Extension expert checking trap for corn earworm mothMoth counts in corn fields were variable around the state – higher in some fields, lower in others – but overall populations are still high enough to warrant regular protection of corn at all growth stages. Fall armyworm moths are more widespread and feeding injury increased this week at several farms. Dry fields are still a major concern for late corn in areas unable to be irrigated.
