Chapter Profile
We are the Sigma Xi Chapter of Alpha
Phi Omega at the University of Maine. We are one of the 16 remaining all
male chapters of Alpha Phi Omega left in the world. Sigma Xi was
inducted into the national fraternity on May 16, 1967.
Sigma Xi is very active in the
community here in the greater Bangor area and here on the University of
Maine Campus. Currently Sigma Xi is responsible for programs here at the
University of Maine such as the Late Night Local (AKA the Drunk Bus),
Food Run, Meal Fast, Bananas the Bear (The University of Maine mascot),
and the Coat Check at the Maine Center for the Arts. Sigma Xi also
volunteers in the greater Bangor area by volunteering for MANNA Soup
Kitchens, American Red Cross Blood Drives, Adopt A Highway, and many
other projects for the community.
