Prospective students need not submit a portfolio. They should apply by following University of Maine application instructions. Create and submit your application to the University of Maine here.
AP credit information
AP Art Portfolios with a score of 4 or 5 can be submitted for review at the beginning of each semester. Please make sure to include original documentation and scores. For more information, contact Andy Mauery, Foundations Coordinator. andy.mauery@umit.maine.edu

DISTINGUISHED STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP AWARD FOR VISUAL ART
The Department of Art at the University of Maine is pleased to be able to offer a number of scholarships for current high school seniors who will be applying to enter UMaine as Art majors in the Fall 2013 (majors include Art Education, Art History, and Studio Art). The scholarship awards, made possible by the Admissions Office, are in the amount of $2,000 or $1,000 per year. They are renewable for eight semesters and must be used within a five-year period. They are awarded on the basis of merit and evidence of talent or accomplishment in the study of Studio Art, Art History or Art Education. Applicants must be accepted to UMaine’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and choose to major in Art (Studio Art, Art Education, Art History) to receive a scholarship.
Through the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Department of Art offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art, Art History and Art Education and the BFA degree in Studio Art. The department has nine full-time and fifteen part-time faculty members and almost 200 majors. This program represents a strong commitment to the study of the visual arts within a liberal arts tradition.
Applications must be received by January 23, 2013. Students who wish to apply must do the following:
1. Complete the Art Department's “ART SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION” form which includes a request for TWO letters of reference. Please mail directly to:
