Art Education

Program Description

The Department of Art offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education.  Art Education today includes research, the study of educational theory, the development of studio skills and practice in teaching. A combination of study in studio, art history, aesthetics and art criticism helps Art Education majors develop a comprehensive understanding of how art knowledge is organized and conveyed. In addition, students research and study the foundation of Art Education and gain practical experience in the teaching process.

Student StudyingIn addition to the B.A. degree in Art Education, students majoring in Art Education graduate with minors in studio art and art history. The Department of Art also offers the option for a developmental disabilities
concentration which provides students an opportunity to understand the unique factors affecting the teaching of individuals experiencing disability.
