John Coleman founded the VIA Group with Rich Rico and former UMaine roommate, David Puelle ‘86 in 1993. The company formerly was known as Via Marketing & Design. The VIA Group offers a spectrum of marketing services that integrate advertising, public relations, market research, and brand management. The agency helps clients with building brands, driving demand, creating identities, launching products and communicating effectively on the Internet. The VIA Group is headquartered in Portland, ME, with revenues in the $25 million range. Mr. Coleman earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UMaine in 1985 and an MBA from New Hampshire College. His spouse Linda Thurston Coleman is a UMaine ‘85 graduate. His siblings are alumni David M. Coleman ‘92, Thomas A. Coleman ‘86 & ‘90, and Jacquelyn C. Sandone ‘90 & ‘94. His parents are alumni Jacquelyn Knapp Coleman ‘55 & ‘95 and Richard A. Coleman ’53 and his daughter Erin Coleman is also a proud recent graduate, class of 2011. John Coleman formerly served on the President’s Task Force on Alumni Engagement and the College of Business Advisory Board.
