Miles began his career with Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems in 1976 and has enjoyed a variety of increasing leadership roles. Since 1986 he has been a member of the executive management team of Affiliated Healthcare Systems (AHS), and currently serves as its President and CEO. AHS’ wholly-owned and joint venture companies employ more than 700 staff and generate annual sales in excess of $ 140 million dollars. Principally, AHS both provides cost-effective support services to the EMHS healthcare family and offers its entire menu of services on a competitive basis elsewhere throughout New England. AHS operating divisions and joint ventures include a retirement community, reference lab, web design & management, medical supplies/equipment, medical supplies logistics, debt collection, retail pharmacies, drug testing, employee assistance program, training and education, freight & courier services, medical transcription, ground ambulance, emergency dispatch/billing, commercial warehousing. third party logistics and medical equipment repair services. AHS clients include over 900 physicians, clinics and hospitals for its healthcare support services and over 800 commercial customers for its drug testing, freight/ courier, EAP, web design and debt collections programs.

In addition to his membership on the BOV, Miles serves on the Maine Innovation Economy Advisory Board (the Maine EPSCoR) Committee), the City of Bangor Planning Board, the Board of Directors of Associated Health Resources (a for-profit subsidiary of the Maine Hospital Association) and the Board of Directors of Congregation Beth Israel.  He is also the Bangor Co-Chair of the Access Atlantica, the Bangor, Maine – Saint John, New Brunswick Economic Corridor Initiative and is the Interim Co-Chair of the Blackstone- Maine Innovation Initiative. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Bangor YMCA, The Jewish Community Council of Bangor and the United Way of Penobscot Valley. He is a past Chairman of the Greater Bangor Area Chamber of Commerce .

A native of Lubec, Maine, Miles earned his undergraduate degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and his MBA from the University of Florida.

His lives in Bangor with wife Sharon. They have two grown daughters.
