Federal Work Merit is awarded based on need to eligible students enrolled in a degree program at least half-time
which gives students the opportunity to earn spending
money and/or living expenses while gaining valuable work
experience. Job listings are available through the Office
of Student Employment and Volunteer Programs. The
Maine Business employs several students each semester
through this program.
Work Merit funds are available to academically talented
returning undergraduate students with sophomore or higher
standing who wish to work on-campus in an academically
challenging position that will enhance their academic
experience. The award will be made for the academic year
and the amount will depend on student and employer requests.
Students must have a University of Maine Grade Point
Average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher to apply for Work Merit.

At times students who do not qualify for Work Student
or Work Merit may be hired.
Limited numbers of Teaching Assistantships are available
through the Graduate Office of the Maine Business School.
