Undergraduate Programs
The Maine Business School at the University of Maine offers a 4-year Bachelor of Science degree program in Business Administration with concentrations in the following areas: accounting, finance, management, marketing and international business.
These programs are accredited by the AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. We earned our initial accreditation in 1974 and are one of the few programs in New England accredited by AACSB International. Only about a quarter of all business programs in the United States have earned this accreditation.
We have had tremendous growth in student numbers during the past few
years. Our popularity has necessitated raising standards to control
growth. First year and transfer students must earn a C- or better
in all core business classes (BUA 135, 201, 202, 220, 325, 337, 343,
350, 370 and 449) and may repeat any class only once. Failure
to do so will result in dismissal from the business program, but not
from the University of Maine. In addition, transfer students (both from
inside and outside the University of Maine) are required to have a 2.5
GPA prior to being admitted to the Maine Business School.
To provide the funding needed for Maine Business School activities and programs that benefit students, a $75 per course fee is assessed on all business courses.
Sample curriculum: This curriculum is only a sample. It will vary by concentration and by other factors including arriving with advanced placement credits and taking classes in summer school.
