room" of the
University, the
Memorial Union
is the unifying
force in campus
life. Regarded
as the gathering
place for the
campus
community, the
Memorial Union
is comprised of
programs,
services,
facilities and
people that
serve students,
faculty, staff,
alumni,
visitors, and
the surrounding
community.
Dedicated June
13th, 1953, the
Memorial Union
underwent major
renovations in
2005 to
its
meeting rooms
and lounges. The
Memorial Union
is a tribute to
the University
of Maine's men and
women who served
in World War II
and a memorial
to the 181 men
who gave their
lives in the
war. The Union
includes the
Career Center,
Volunteer
Programs,
Faculty
Development
Center, Greek
Life, Computer
and
Nontraditional
Student
Programs,
Computer
Connection,
Information
Center, Alcohol
and Drug
Education
Programs,
Connections, Student Service
Center,
and University
Book Store, Post
Office, E-Mail
Lounge,
Residence Life
Office, Student
Affairs and
Deans Office,
and Hauck
Auditorium.
The Memorial
Union also
houses the
Campus
Newspaper, WMEB-FM
Campus Radio
Station, Spirit
Room, Arcade and
the new Wade
Center for
Student
Leadership.
Dining Services
are available at
the newly opened
Maine
Marketplace and
Union Central.
Life’s lessons
are learned and
memories are
created through
the programs
offered making
the Memorial
Union an
integral part of
the University
of Maine’s
educational
