Free Classes: A selection of general group exercise classes is free. During the first week of each semester (Spring, Summer, Fall) all classes are free.
FitPasses only grant access to Group Exercise classes, not access to the facility. A Full Membership, Early Bird Pass, or Punch Pass is required for FitPass purchase. FitPasses are non-refundable, but may be transferred. If transferred, services must be used before the expiration date.
- Semester FitPass: $65; provides unlimited access to all fee-based group fitness classes; expires at the end of the semester.
- 25-Class FitPass: $55; provides 25 visits to all fee-based group fitness classes; expires after 25 uses, or 1 year from the date of purchase, whichever comes first.
- Summer FitPass: $35; provides unlimited access to all fee-based group fitness classes; expires at the end of the summer.
- Drop-In Pass: $5 for any fee-based group fitness class except when specified.

Where available, you can click on the class name to see a video clip. Class times are noted on the schedule. All classes are 50 minutes unless otherwise noted. Group Ex classes that are not marked as “FREE” require purchase of Daily Fitness Class Pass or FitPass. Subject to change without notice.

FREE! Fitness 1, 2, 3: Are you new to exercise? Unsure how to begin a fitness program? Intimidated by fitness facilities? Have you lost your motivation to exercise? Fitness 1,2,3 allows to to take small steps towards improving your health and fitness goals. In partnership with HealthyU, this program offers a wide variety of introductory level fitness classes and wellness seminars, including:

NEW Time! After Work Employee Fit Club: This wellness program was designed exclusively for UMaine faculty and staff. Student-free, small group classes will get you on the fast track to reaching optimal health. A fitness assessment is included in the program to help personalize the program to your specific goals and needs. With no membership required, EFC is a great way to ease into a workout environment. Tae Kwon Do: “The way of the foot and the fist”. Learn the classic hand strikes and trademark kicks of traditional Tang Soo Do, Mu Duk Kwan tae kwon do. Meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00-7:00 p.m.

Aikido: The basic attacks and defensive techniques of this Japanese art focus on turning an attacker’s delivery and energy against them. Meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Session 1: Jan. 23 to Feb. 27. Session 2: Mar. 18 to Apr. 29. Member: $50; Non-Member: $65.
Ballet Tone: An introduction to classical ballet training. Traditional combinations as well as floor and bar exercises will emphasize body placement and core engagement for a great musical workout. Meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Session 1: Jan. 23 to Feb. 27. Session 2: Mar. 18 to Apr. 29. Member: $30; Non-Member: $45.
NEW! Belly Dance: You’ve seen Shakira! Come learn this ancient form of arabic dance. Shimmy your cares away as you firm up to middle eastern music with a professional dancer as your guide. Meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

In-Deep! Aqua Class: This deep water aqua fitness program will have you suspended in the deep end utilizing floating belts and water weights. The program is available to members for free. Non-members can purchase an In-Deep Class Pass good for the entire semester. Meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Spring Session: Jan. 15 to May 2. Member: FREE!; Non-Member: $45.
“Big Bears to Little Bears”: During this 12-week challenge, teams meets with a personal trainer twice a week and have unlimited access to group fitness classes. Groups earn points with weekly attendace, % weight-loss and fitness challenge improvements. Winning team receives a prize package. All participants receive T-shirts. By far the best package deal we have to offer! 3-6 people per group. BBLB Kick-Off Meeting: Wed. Jan. 23 at 5:30 pm in the Rec Center Conference Room. Fitness Assessment: A very important tool to benchmark one’s current health and fitness levels in order to establish reasonable fitness goals, develop accurate exercise recommendations and chart progress. Assessment includes baseline measurements and physical fitness assessments. Results will be interpreted and provided to you in a report for you to keep. Member: $21. Non-Member: $28.
Personal Training: A personal trainer is involved in developing and applying physical activity programs to help individuals achieve their personal fitness goals. A fitness assessment is required before any PT services may be rendered. Both individual and buddy trainings are available. Fees are per person. Click here for info, or see handout above.

ACE Personal Trainer Course: A great way to land a job at Campus Recreation! This 12-week course will cover anatomy, physiology, training techniques, injury prevention, special populations and strategies for effective personal training. Each week will include an intense 30-minute workout introducing a variety of equipment you can use to train your clients. Meets Tuesdays 6:00-8:30 p.m. Spring Session: Jan 22 to April 30. Member & Non-Member: $130.Price includes course book and study materials. Recieve $40 off your exam fee just by taking the course!
ACE Personal Training /Group Fitness Exams: Saturdays: Jan. 12, Feb. 9, March 23 & Apr. 27, at 1:00 p.m. There are 15 seats available. Visit acefitness.org for exam fees.
