Free Classes: A selection of our Group Exercise classes is always free. During the first week of each semester (Fall, Spring, Summer) all classes are free.


FitPasses:

FitPasses only grant access to Group Exercise classes, not access to the facility. A Full MembershipEarly Bird Pass, or Punch Pass is required for FitPass purchase. FitPasses are non-refundable, but may be transferred.  If transferred, services must be used before the expiration date.

Spring 2015 Session-Based Handout – PDF

12-Week Team-Based Fitness Programs
Spring Session: January 26 – May 1, 2015 (No classes March 1-15 – Spring Break)

Big Bears to Little Bears
A comprehensive 12-week team-based fitness challenge for weight loss and fitness.
Member: $115; Non-Member: $140 (Includes a Semester FitPass. )

Group Fit  NEW
12-week team-based fitness program for those who have hit a plateau in their own workouts, or for those who are bored with their current fitness routine.
Meets Tu/Th 4:00 p.m. or W/F 12:00 p.m.  Spots limited.
Member: $115; Non-Member: $140 (Includes a Semester FitPass. )

Tae Kwon Do
The classic hand strikes and trademark kicks of traditional Tang Soo Do, Mu Duk Kwan tae kwon do.
Meets: Tu/Th 6:00-7:00 p.m. (Foster Room)
Member: $50; Non-Member: $65

Aikido
The basic attacks and defensive techniques of this Japanese art focus on turning an attacker’s delivery and energy against them.
Meets: M/W 7:00-8:00 p.m. (MP1)
Member: $50; Non-Member: $65

Ballet Tone
An introduction to classical ballet training. Traditional combinations as well as floor and bar exercises will emphasize body placement and core engagement for a great musical workout.
Meets: M/W 6:00-7:00 p.m (Foster Room)

Belly Dance
You’ve seen Shakira!  Come learn this ancient form of Arabic dance.  Shimmy your cares away as you firm up to middle eastern music with a professional dancer as your instructor.
Meets: M/W 7:00-8:30 p.m (Foster Room)
Member: $45; Non-Member: $65

Power Yoga NEW
A strenuous flowing sequence of classic yoga postures progressing from basic sun salutations to more advanced strength, balance and flexibility poses throughout the 6 weeks.  A great workout for weight-lifters or athletes looking to build stamina, mobility and flexibility.  Mats and props are provided; mats are available for purchase ($10).

Acro Yoga NEW
Explore a blend of yoga and acrobatics that will stretch, strengthen and embolden you.  This is a partner-based class that incorporates the focus and mindfulness of yoga with the gravity-defying fun of acrobatics.  Beginners are encouraged and you don’t need a partner to sign up.
Meets: Sundays 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. (Foster Room)
Member: $20; Non-Member: $35

Strong Girls NEW
Compound weight training exercises build true strength.  This class empowers women to weight train and feel good about what their bodies can do!
Meets: Tu/Th 9:00-10:00 am. (Free Weights Area)
Member: $30; Non-Member: $45

Gateway Seniors: Forever Young NEW
Designed for adults aged 55+ who would like to increase strength, range of motion, agility, balance, and coordination as well as improve overall health. All exercises can be done from a chair or standing. This class is a great way to meet new people and socialize.
Meets: M/W 10:00-10:50 a.m (Foster Room)
Member: $30; Non-Member: $45

Gateway Seniors: Tai Chi
For adults aged 55+ (or anyone). Research shows the slow and gentle movements of Tai Chi can lower blood pressure, strengthen the immune system and improve balance, reducing the likelihood of falls by up to 40%. 8 Weeks.
Meets: Tu/Th 10:00-11:00 a.m (Foster Room)
Session 1: Jan 20 – Mar 12 | Session 2: Mar 17 – May 7
Member: $40; Non-Member: $60

Healthy High Couch To 5K/10K
Meet weekly to run with a personal trainer.  You’ll also get a week-by-week training schedule, weekly tips handout, and a t-shirt for race day!  Race registration fee waived for the first 10 who register, thanks to SWELL.
Meets: Mondays 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Spring Session: Feb 23 – Apr 13*
Race Day:  Apr 20 at 4:20 pm
Member: $30; Non-Member: $45

Black Bear Marathon Training NEW
Meet with an experienced trainer every week to run the long runs as a group.  We’ll give you a detailed training plan, handouts each week on various race topics, and $10 off your race registration!  Must be able to currently run 3 miles without stopping.
Meets: Saturdays 9:15 a.m. (session length varies)
Spring Session: Feb 7 – June 20*.
Race Day:  June 21
Member: $100; Non-Member: $150

Black Bear Half-Marathon Training NEW

Session-Based Certification Classes & Exams:
Spring 2015 Session-Based Handout – PDF

ACE Personal Trainer Course
This 12-week course will give you the knowledge and skills to pass the ACE Personal Trainer Exam.  The class will cover anatomy, physiology, training techniques, injury prevention, special populations,
and strategies for effective personal training.  Each week will include  hands on demos of case studies that introduces a variety of equipment you can use to train your clients.  Highly recommended for students pursuing employment as a Personal Trainer with Campus Recreation.
Meets: Wednesdays 5:30-7:30pm (Conference Room)
Spring Session: Jan 21 – Apr 22  – No classes March 1-15 (Spring Break)
Member & Non-Member:  $190 (class and books), or $80 (class only)

ACE Personal Trainer / Group Fitness Exams
Saturdays Jan. 31, Feb 28, Mar 28, and Apr 25 each at 1:00 p.m.  There are 15 seats available at each exam.  Visit acefitness.org for exam fees.
