Intramural
Sports provides an opportunity for students and the University
community to participate in a variety of activities at varying
skill levels. Also a key training ground for new sport officials,
this program provides opportunities for extramural competition.
Our activities program includes a comprehensive assortment of
sports for men, women, as well as coed competition.

3-ON-3
BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
Details: Each team will play with three (3) players on the floor at one time. Substitutions may be made during any dead ball but must be announced to the other team prior to initiating the substitution.
Rules: PDF | MS Word Current National Federation Basketball Rules as modified by UMaine Campus Recreation will be used. Players may play for only one team. If you have one player competing that is over 6’2”, you must sign-up for the over 6’2” Division.

3-POINT
SHOOT OUT
A
competition where players shoot a specific number of basketballs
in a given time period from beyond the three-point line on a
basketball court. The winner is the person who makes the most
shots. A coed team is one man and one woman. Be sure to sign up as
a coed team before shooting.

BADMINTON TOURNAMENT
Details: Tournament will be played in the SRFC, and will be single elimination. Competitors can compete in either singles or doubles competition.

BASKETBALL - MEN/WOMEN/CO-ED
Details: One of the
most popular Intramural Sports, basketball is offered in several
divisions. Eachteam must be represented at the Captains' Meeting.

BENCH
PRESS MEET
Details: This is both an individual and team competition where lifters are separated based on
gender and weight. A standardized lifting formula is used based on
the individual's weight to get a score for each lifter. The winner
is determined using this formula along with maximum lift from the
lifter.

BLACK BEAR 5K RACE

BLACK BEAR TRIATHLON
This is a great race for first-timers and experienced triathletes who are looking for a fun sprint. Do all 3 legs yourself or form a team with friends. Click here for date and details.

BROOMBALL TOURNAMENT
Details: Broomball is a sport that is a combination of ice hockey and indoor soccer. The players run on the ice instead of skating while using a "broom" to control the ball and score. Tournament will take place on the outdoor ice rink... it's limited to the first 16 teams with 6 people on each team, so don’t wait.

DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT
Details: A game
played by two opposing teams of 5-10 players where players must
remain in their designated play area unless retrieving stray
balls. A player is considered out when he/she is hit by a ball below the
head or steps outside the designated area. The format will be a modified elimination tournament. Each player may only play for one team.

FIELD
HOCKEY
Details: A game
played on turf between two teams of 5 players using the width of the football field as the ends to the
field. No goalies are used, but a designated kicking back is
allowed. Each team must be represented at the Captains' Meeting. Jerseys, field hockey balls, and goals are provided. Players should provide their own field hockey stick. Rules will follow modified current National Federation Field Hockey Rules.

FLAG
FOOTBALL
Details: Flag
football is a game played on the turf or in the Mahaney Dome. Teams consist
of seven players that are eligible to receive a
forward pass. A player is down when the flag is pulled
from his/her waist. Leagues are scheduled for men's, women's, and
coed play. Limit 16 teams. Each team must be represented at the Flag Football Captains' Meeting. Footballs and flag belts will be provided and no metal spikes or cleats are permitted. See Rules for more equipment information.

FLOOR HOCKEY
Details: A game
played on a court between two teams of 6 players; one goalie and 5
offensive players. The object of the game is to move the ball down
the court and shoot the ball into the opponent's goal. The goalie
is allowed to catch or block the ball using his/her hands or
goalie stick. Men's, women's and coed play is offered; two women are required for coed teams. Each team must be represented at the Captains' Meeting. Jerseys, floor hockey balls and sticks, and goals are provided. See rules for more equipment information. Rules

FREE
THROW CONTEST
Details: A
competition where contestants shoot thirty free throws and win by making the most free throws. No pre-registration is required; all sign-ups will occur right before the start of the contest. There will be an individual and team division.
Teams consist of no less than 3 members. Coed teams are required to to sign up as a coed team before
shooting. Shooters may shoot for only one team. Basketballs, score sheets and supervisors will be provided. Shooters should wear non-marking athletic shoes. No street shoes are permitted.

INDOOR AND DOME
SOCCER
Details: Teams consist of 4
players plus the goalie. A smaller goalie box is used and the goalie is only
allowed to roll the ball to half court. Modified high school rules apply. Indoor soccer games are played in the Field House and Dome soccer games are played in the Mahaney Dome. Each team must be represented at the Captains' Meeting. Soccer balls and team jerseys will be provided and no metal spikes are permitted. See current rules for more equipment information. Rules

Fee: There is a $40 fee for each Dome Soccer entrant, which must be paid at the SRFC front desk prior to the registration deadline.

INDOOR
SOFTBALL
Details: A variation
of softball played on a smaller, indoor diamond with a larger,
softer ball pitched underhanded. Leagues are offered for
men's, women's, and coed competition. Teams consist of 6-10 players; coed teams need a minimum of 2 women. Rules

INDOOR
TRACK MEET
Details: This is an All-Points event held in the Memorial Gym Field House that includes high
jump, long jump, shot put, 60 yd. hurdles, 60 yd. dash, 300 yd.
run, 600 yd. run, 1000 yd. run, 1-mile run, 2-mile run, and a 4 x 1 Lap Relay (1 Lap/Runner). There will be separate fraternity, non-fraternity, & women's divisions. Individual entrants are welcome!
Captains' Meeting: Each team must be represented at the Captains' Meeting. At this time, all final roster changes must be submitted. Individuals not affiliated with a team or organization (free agents) may also attend the Captains' Meeting but it is not required.
Eligibility: Competition is open to all current UMaine students, employees, and their spouses. No current UMaine track or cross country athletes are eligible for this event. Collegiate letter winners from any institution must wait at least one year since last lettering to be eligible for this meet.

IRON MAN / WOMAN CONTEST
Details: A Maine Day contest with four events testing strength and agility: Medball Throw 5-10-5, Pro Agility Run, 20 Yard Sled Push, and 1 lap run around the steam plant field. All events will be timed, and the medball throw will be judged by distance. All times and distances will be assigned a predetermined point value. Winners will be determined by combining results of all 4 events.

KICKBALL TOURNAMENT
A game
played with a rubber kickball by two opposing teams consisting of
6-8 players. Games are played in Field House in the Memorial Gym and follow modified elimination tournament format.
The pitcher must roll the ball toward the kicker at a slow rate of
speed and the kicker then kicks the ball and runs
toward first base. Home runs are possible when a ball is kicked high
enough that it reaches the curtain in the Field House.

MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE
Details: Individual or team competition is available; minimum 2 riders per team. Maximum 50 entrants. Entrants must pick up their race number at least 15 minutes prior to race time. Race starts behind Gannett Hall at the entrance to the bike path. There are two distance options; 5 or 10 miles (the 5-mile race is part of the All Points system.) There is no rain date for this event; in case of snow the event will be cancelled. ANSI helmets REQUIRED of all riders.

Fee: Free to current UMaine students; $5 for all others (due at time of entry).

OUTDOOR
SOCCER
Details: Teams play
outdoor soccer with six players including the goalie(s). Leagues
are offered for men's, women's, and coed play. The fall outdoor soccer season is the longest and is played
under the lights on the practice fields by the river. Each team must be represented at the Captains' Meeting. Soccer balls and team jerseys are provided and no metal spikes or cleats are permitted. SOFTBALL
(Slow Pitch)
Details: ASA softball
rules are used for all softball games. Teams consist of 10
players, with a minimum of 7 required to avoid a forfeit. For coed
play, teams are allowed to use 5 men or women on the field. At
no time can teams play with more than 5 men during coed games.
Teams are allowed to bat as many players as they desire during

Details: An All-Points event with separate fraternity, non-fraternity & women's divisions. Individual entrants also welcome! No swimmer may swim more than 3 events, including relays.

ULTIMATE
(FRISBEE) TOURNAMENT
Details: Teams
consist of 6 players, and each team must have a minimum of 2 female players. Players
may only run freely when not holding the Frisbee, and when a player
catches the Frisbee he/she must come to a stop and prepare to
throw. Games are played at the Lengyel Field
near the Lengyel Gym fields, or at UPark Fields, or (for Indoor Ultimate) in the Mahaney Dome. Each team must be represented at the Captains' Meeting. Discs and team jerseys will be provided. No metal spikes or cleats are permitted. See current rules for more equipment information.

Details: Two
volleyball leagues are offered during the year. The fall league is
strictly a coed league. During the spring league,
both men's and women's competitions are available. Six players per
