French-speaking Universities in Canada Year Program

Canada is a bilingual country, and Quebec is a province whose official language is French.
Where could it be better to learn French, than in a French-speaking environment!

-  Several Canadian universities offer programs in French as a Second Language where students study and learn the French language for one or two semesters.

-  UMaine students at any level of French are eligible for the programs below. These programs are available through DIRECT ENROLL, and they place students in appropriate level classes. UMaine students are also eligible for semester-long French language programs available at other Canadian universities. The Canada Year Program can help you find and apply to those, too.

-  Quote from UMaine French Major Amy Morang, when asked to give advice to Canada Year students, she said:  "Speak French as much as possible. Don't cling to the English speaking students."  And, asked if she would recommend this program: "Definitely! I learned so much there. It's also close enough to home that you don't have to fly."
