Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Academic Year Fellowships

  • Open on a competitive basis to graduate students with research interest in French Canada
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in French required
  • $15,000 Stipend, plus a tuition waiver
  • Possibility of a semester or a year of research in French-speaking Canada
  • Awards available to US citizens

Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Summer Awards

  • Open on a competitive basis to enrolled graduate students wishing to improve or maintain their proficiency in French
  • Candidates must be willing to commit to a 6-week French Immersion program in the US or Canada
  • $2,500 stipend for room and board
  • Tuition waiver
  • Travel expenses defrayed up to $250
  • Awards available to US citizens and permanent residents

  • $11,500 Stipend, plus a tuition waiver
