Call for Papers

7th Annual
University of Maine - University of New Brunswick
History Graduate Student Conference

October 14 - 16, 2005

The history graduate students of the University of Maine and University of New Brunswick wish to announce the seventh annual International Graduate Student Conference, October 14-16, 2005. In past years we have attracted participants from a wide range of universities throughout the United States and Canada. This year's event will be held on the University of New Brunswick campus in Fredericton, New Brunswick. We invite all interested graduate students, from any university or college, to submit paper proposals related to any topic of historical investigation. This conference is designed to offer graduate students an opportunity to present their work before a friendly audience of their peers and also an opportunity to meet other graduate students who have similar experiences and interests in our expanding discipline.

This year's conference will feature a keynote address by University of Maine Professor Dr. Richard Judd. Dr. Judd is a specialist of U.S. environmental history, especially that of New England.  His most recent publication is Natural States: The Environmental Imagination in Maine, Oregon, and the Nation (with Christopher S. Beach), published in 2003.  He will speak on: “North American Environmental History: A Comparative Analysis of Canada and the United States.”
