Kahnawa:ke, Seigneurie and Museum
Site of the 1680 French Crown land grant, granted to the Jesuits for the benefit of the Iroquois (Mohawks) in the Seigneurie of Sault-Saint-Louis (today's Kahnawa:ke). The Kahnawa:ke Community takes the position that it does not 'belong' to the province of Québec, rather, it resides in Kanien'keha (Nation) territory accessible via Québec. Presentation on the role of the 'people of the flint' (Mohawk) and other nations of the Iroquois Confederacy and their role in the fur trade
