"I am having a fabulous time here in Montreal! It is really great to get a chance to experience the city life and take a course at one of the top universities in Canada. I have enjoyed being able to experience a setting such diverse in culture and
people. There are people from everywhere here! You have your choice of any type of food you want to try, from Lebanese to Greek to French to Vietnamese. The amazing thing is that all of these such diverse people get along very peacefully here.
Most people can speak both French and English. I find it astonishing how most can move between both languages without any difficulty. McGill University is english speaking, however, students are given the option to write their exams in either French or English.
The city is quite modern with several enormous skyscraper buildings. However, there are quite a few old stone buildings as well. No two buildings are the same. The old part of Montreal, Vieux-Montreal, offers a lot of history with lots of great
activities. During my stay here I have gotten a chance to meet a lot of great people. Even though I have heard people talk down about America, I have never felt that people looked down on me because I am American.
Even though the city can get quite loud and busy, there are several places one can escape from it all. I have really enjoyed walking around the Parc du Mont Royal. There are also several cafes that can be quite relaxing. There is something for
everyone to do here whether its winter or summer. It is amazing how I can be not too far away from home and be able to get such a different cultural living experience."

"This was an invaluable experience. I not only learned in the classroom, but from the culture."
"New Brunswick, though a close neighbor, offers a lot of culture. While it's close enough to go home in a couple of hours, it is a distinctly different country/region. The Maritimes have their own music, accent, and traditions."
"Befriending Canadians and seeing 'Beautiful British Columbia' allowed me a view into a unique North American culture. Attending Simon Fraser University has brought considerable perspective to my life here in Maine as both a student and a citizen."
