Learning Mathematics With Excel

Microsoft Excel is a popular spreadsheet program that allows you to import, organize, and explore data sets quickly and easily. In this workshop we worked through a variety of different mathematics activities using Excel. These activities included a basic introduction to data entry and presentation, examples using a random number generator in simulation, how to graph one- and two-dimensional functions, how to use sliders to vary parameters in a function and display the results in a graph, and how to build a model of Mount Desert Island from a contour map.

Below is a link to a variety of resources that will provide you with the opportunity to use Microsoft Excel in your classroom.

We'd like to hear about what you are doing with Excel and how well it is working for you. Go to the Contact Us page and tell us what you and your students have been up to!
