Harold Daniel is the director of the Center for Tourism Research and Outreach (CenTRO) and Associate Professor of Marketing for the University of Maine Business School. He was a member of the committee that developed CenTRO and is a co-author of the proposal for the center approved by the University Of Maine Board Of Trustees.

Harold has taught Advertising, Marketing Research and Marketing Management in both the undergraduate and MBA programs. His research interests include the investigation of buyer – seller relationships in the management of intangible consumer and industrial products (e.g., the experiential and service products common to tourism). This interest drove an investigation of best management practices in the advanced technology research centers supported by the National Science Foundation’s Industry-University Cooperative Research Centers program. Each center represents a strategic network of economic relationships among businesses, government agencies and academic institutions. Harold also serves on the editorial board of Industrial Marketing Management, the leading scholarly journal devoted to the investigation of the exchange of goods and services among businesses and other organizations.

He has served the University of Maine as a principal investigator for the Advanced Engineered Wood Composites Center. The AEWCC is an advanced technology research center devoted to the development of new products based on plastic and wood fiber composites.

Harold has also held management positions at a major marketing research supplier, Burke Marketing Research, as well as in the marketing research departments of Campbell Soup Company and General Foods. This practical experience focused on brand management and new product development.
