ABC Quilts is an international organization that makes and gives money to make baby quilts for at-risk babies. It was started by two woman by the names of  Ellen Ahlgren and Anne White of Northwood, New Hampshire. These two grandmothers took up the challenge made by Dr. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross to "do something" about babies who were diagnosed with AIDS and left to the care of hospitals. To meet the challenge Ms. Ahlgren and Ms. White made quilts to comfort these babies because they could not get it from a mother or a grandmother.

The slogan "ABC Quilts" stands for At-risk Babies Crib Quilts. The founders soon changed the specifications of their business to include babies who were suffering from fetal alcohol syndrome or shared their mother's addiction to heroine, crack, or cocaine.

This interest is growing and the efforts are now becoming international. And it's all thanks to the faith and dedication of a couple of grandmothers whose love is big enough for all those at-risk babies who need it.
