Master Gardener Burnt Island Living Lighthouse Project

Knox-Lincoln County Master Gardeners--L-R--Maureen, Pat and Connie -work to beautify Burnt Island Lighthouse grounds.

Burnt Island Lighthouse Master Gardener Project group.
Master Gardeners prepare the frame work for raised beds along the steep banks of the island. The raised beds will act as a natural barrier to help control soil erosion and prevent people from coming to close to the rock ledge
Master Gardeners weed and prepare the soil for an annual flower garden display.
This annual flower garden greets visitors as they approach the lighthouse from the boat landing.
This group of dedicated Master Gardeners restored historical plantings and created natural barriers for island visitors to enjoy and learn about growing gardens on an island environment.

After pruning back an overgrown lilac tree Master Gardeners discovered an old flower bed. Master Gardeners restore the Lighthouse Keeper's annual flower bed.
Master Gardeners are preparing to move native plants to be used as natural barriers along the steep banks of the island.
