Spruce Budworm: What's Past is PrologueA Forum and Field Tour for Maine's Forest Managers
"The CFRU has taken a giant step forward by starting a dialogue among people to get everyone involved in what to do next if another outbreak occurs.”- Dave Struble in a recent Bangor Daily News Article about the event
In October, the CFRU hosted over 60 scientists, forest landowners and managers, policy makers and others in Caribou for a 30-year retrospective on the last spruce budworm outbreak. The forum included panelists ranging from ecologists to procurement managers to state policy managers. CFRU members and other guests spent the day discussing first what lessons were learned from the last outbreak and where to look in the future in the event of another outbreak.
