I grew up near Pittsburgh, PA and attended Penn State University. I moved to New York City for my graduate studies and to explore a big city for the first time. Within a few weeks of living in New York, I found myself daydreaming of returning to greener spaces. After five years in the city, I have my bags packed and I am eager to move to Maine.

I love the outdoors: hiking, fishing, camping, rafting. I play the guitar and I am slowly learning to play old-time banjo music. I am fond of poetry, photography, and studying American History.

What has been your most embarrassing moment?

I ran for class president my junior year of high school. I was really nervous about delivering my campaign speech in front of the entire class (about 300 students). During the speech, my hand started to shake so much that I could not read the notes I was holding. With everyone watching, I had to use my free hand to steady my shaking hand in order to continue the speech. I endured some good-natured teasing about that but I was pretty embarrassed.

What is your favorite comfort food?

I love spicy food of almost any kind. I put hot sauce or dried red pepper on anything from eggs to green beans to pork chops.

If you could take a trip anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Western Montana has some of the most beautiful country I have ever seen. I lived there briefly and dream of returning someday.
