I live and work in the Belfast, Maine area and have
lived there for almost 30 years. With a medical degree I could have
lived anywhere in the country and made a living and very purposefully
chose this area as being the best place I had ever encountered. I was
impressed by the people, by the geography and by the environmental
consciousness that I find here. I live in a self-designed and built
underground solar-powered house and in addition to my medical career,
probably my next greatest interest in life is in the preservation of our
ecology and the hope that we can somehow find a sustainable way of
living on the planet.
What has been your most
embarrassing moment?
Mistaking my freshman proctor at college for one of the
enemy combatants in a month-long water balloon war and letting him have
it full in the face with a carefully overfilled water balloon.
What is your favorite comfort food?
Chocolate in almost any form; the thicker and the richer
the better.
If you could take a trip anywhere in the world,
where would you go?
Well, since we are talking fantasy, if I didn’t have to
spend 24 hours on an airplane, I would probably go to the Great Barrier
Reef, off Australia for some scuba diving.
