Feeling Stressed? - Play

As a student, you spend a lot of your time working. Work could be going to class, finishing homework, doing your laundry, or going to a part-time job. Thinking of work in these terms, work is anything that you would not consider recreational. Unfortunately, as an adult, you will spend a large amount of time doing things that are stressful and could be considered work, but there is a remedy: PLAY!

It is easy to get caught up in the daily grind, so schedule some time for you to play.

What is play? Play is anything that you enjoy, anything that is purely for the fun of it. Play can be active, creative, or maybe just an opportunity to ‘check out’ for a bit. Play lets you relax, and laughter helps release tension.

Here are some examples:

  • Reading a book (not for class)

  • Doing a crossword
  • One-on-one basketball
  • Knitting
  • Watching a movie
  • Painting pottery
  • Reading a magazine
