College Success Programs

College Success Programs (CSP) is the home of the University of Maine's Onward Program, Student Support Services, Tutor Program, and Disability Support Services, as well as the University's CLEP testing services. CSP reports to the Provost's Office in Academic Affairs.

Onward offers alternative ways to enter the University of Maine. Student Support Services and Tutor Program provide support to a wide array of students to assure their successful completion of a bachelor's degree.

CSP News The On Course Workshop I is coming to Maine on May 8-10, 2012, at the Lucerne Inn in Dedham, Maine! CSP and the Maine Educational Opportunity Association will sponsor Skip Downing, author of On Course: Strategies for Creating Success in College and in Life, in this opportunity for learner-centered educators. On Course Workshop I for Maine details are here. An August 2, 2011 Raising Maine article relates the story of UMaine graduate and former Tutor Emily Tupper. "I wasn't expecting it to turn into my passion," she says, describing how the University of Maine's tutoring program certified and prepared her to tutor peers in Biology 101. "But eventually, it became the most rewarding part of my day, seeing these kids who were terrified of math go from that to feeling like, 'OK! I get it.' I felt like I was making a difference." College Reading and Learning Association’s (CRLA) International Tutor Program Certification has certified the University of Maine’s Tutor Program through 2016. This certification recognizes that the Tutor Program plays a vital role in enhancing student learning.
