Campaign Maine - A Message from the President
As the University of Maine’s 18th president, I cherish this “job of a lifetime”-leading Maine’s flagship institution of higher education during one of the most exciting and critical periods in our state’s history. What makes my job and our university so exceptional? The answer is simple. It is the people, both locally and nationally, who appreciate the University of Maine-and wish to carry it over the threshold of greatness.
Our alumni and friends, our faculty and staff, and our students and their families share qualities that can transform the university they care about so deeply. They are among the most talented, thoughtful, committed, compassionate, and humble individuals we have ever met and, increasingly, feel like family to Mary and me. As I consider such qualities, woven together with a practical, purposeful spirit, I could not be more optimistic about the University’s future and Campaign Maine, its most ambitious fundraising endeavor to date.
Campaign Maine is all about people, opportunity, and impact-and about ensuring that UMaine, the “College of Our Hearts always,” flourishes for centuries to come. This is a time for making and keeping promises to our state, its people, and its university. Please join me in forging a legacy that will last forever.
