to support the growth of the state's economy. Our partnerships are
an important component of our strategy to create new jobs and companies
through research and development.
Some
of our partners include:
Bangor
Region Development Alliance - UMaine is a member of this organization
that attracts companies to locate in the Greater Bangor region.
UMaine helps recruit businesses that would benefit from being located
near a research center and a large source of potential employees.
Coastal
Acadia Development Corporation - UMaine is a partner in this
organization that is dedicated to business growth and retention
in Hancock County.
Maine
Technology Institute - This state-funded organization provides
grants to companies commercializing new technologies. More than 50% of
the companies receiving grants have partnered with UMaine.
Maine Manufacturing Extension
Partnership - UMaine works with MEP to help manufacturing and
technology companies improve efficiency, eliminate waste, obtain
international certifications and commercialize technologies.
Millinocket
Area Growth & Investment Council - UMaine is a partner in
this organization's efforts to develop a business incubator in the
Business Resource Innovation Center.
Piscataquis
County Economic Development Council - UMaine is working with
PCEDC and the Town of Greenville to create a wood composites business
incubator. UMaine is also working with PCEDC to explore new opportunities
for tourism businesses in the region.
Sanford-Springvale
Chamber of Commerce - UMaine helps the chamber manage the Composites
Technology Center, one the incubators in the Applied Technology
Development Center system.
Small
Business Development Centers - UMaine works with counselors
in the SBDC system to provide business counseling and services to
its spin-off companies and incubator tenants.
Target
Area Development Corporation - UMaine worked with Target Corporation
and the Town of Orono to build the Target Technology Center in the
Orono Tech Park. The Town of Orono donated the land and Target built
the center, which is leased to information technology-related companies
and to UMaine for research space and the the Target Technology Incubator.
