UMaine
researchers and faculty have the expertise and facilities to help
companies create prototypes for many early-stage technologies. UMaine
assistance can shorten the time to market for new technologies and
maximize their value.
Advanced
Manufacturing Center
UMaine's Advanced Manufacturing
Center (AMC) is an engineering support and service center that
is a one-stop shop from concept to something that can be manufactured.
The Advanced Manufacturing Center is currently located in a new 30,000 square foot facility, with 20,000 square feet dedicated to machining
and materials testing space. A large portion of the bottom floor
is a high-bay manufacturing floor with a 5-ton bridge crane that
will house the AMC's large equipment. The entire building is temperature and humidity controlled.

Information
ORED's Department of Industrial Cooperation (DIC) arranges all fee-for-service
work, including prototype development. This office can match companies
with the appropriate expertise and facilities on campus. While prototype
development involves fees for time and materials, UMaine has partnered
with several companies and entrepreneurs who have received seed
funding for prototype development from the Maine
Technology Institute. Email
DIC or call 207-581-2201 for more information.
