Anne E. Pooler assumed the duties as Dean of the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Maine in July 2007.

Prior to undertaking the Dean’s position, she began her administrative responsibilities as the Associate Dean for Academic Services and was responsible for all aspects of these services, including recruitment, orientation, and certification and advising. More recently she served as Associate Dean for Curriculum and Instruction in the College which included leadership for program development, negotiating faculty performance agreements/faculty evaluations, the successful implementation of NCATE accreditation, oversight of external grants and she carried out the duties of the Graduate Coordinator. Pooler is also associate professor of social studies education.

Before her involvement in higher education, Pooler was a fifth grade teacher, a high school history teacher, and middle school assistant principal. She received her B.A. degree from the College of New Rochelle, her master’s and her doctorate degrees in social studies education from the University of Maine.
