The What Works Clearinghouse
bestowed the "gold standard" to Reading Recovery as a true research-driven
intervention. Of the 24 intervention programs reviewed in 2007,
Reading Recovery was the only one to receive the highest ranking
of "Positive Effects" on general reading achievement, phonics,
phonological awareness, letter identification, comprehension,
and fluency.
