Reading Recovery meets the criteria for
a "scientifically research-based" intervention under the RTI requirements.
It is a significant component of a Comprehensive Intervention Model
which offers small group and one-on-one interventions to meet the
needs of struggling learners.
As an ideal response to the
IDEA's framework for early intervening services, Reading Recovery
serves as a "second chance" at literacy learning and a pre-referral
intervention for children who may need longer-term specialist
help.
The data collection process
employed in Reading Recovery provides an essential component
in the RTI framework by providing important evidence of instruction
and learning. Each year, Reading Recovery reports data on each
of the more than 100,000 children served. Evaluation reports
demonstrate that it can be successfully implemented in a variety
of schools.
