ACC (Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum) Network

Mission: The ACC Network is an international network dedicated to providing information and a communication link for individuals with brain anomalies involving the corpus callosum, their families, and the professionals who work with them.

The ACC Network was founded in 1989 by Gary and Kathy Schilmoeller in response to the lack of information available about agenesis of the corpus callosum and the desire to help interested families network to share information and support.

The ACC Network is located at the University of Maine in Orono, Maine. The network mails information packets on request, maintains a networking directory, publishes a newsletter, and sponsors an online discussion group (ACC-Listserv) to foster communication among network participants.

University faculty and staff associated with the ACC Network conduct research to develop a behavioral phenotypes of individuals with ACC and other callosal disorders, including issues related to social, physical, communication, developmental, health-related and other characteristics. In addition, network staff assists outside researchers in their recruitment of participants for ACC-related research projects, including neuropsychology, genetics, speech/language pathology, and other related fields.
