Advising Center
[-Back
to Student Services-]
The
College of Education and Human Development Advising Center offers
undergraduate academic advising to majors in
Elementary (K-8) and
Secondary (7-12) Education. Students studying in
Kinesiology
and Physical Education and
Child
Development and Human Relations majors are assigned to faculty
advisors in their respective programs.
The Advising Center provides students with a viable source of academic
guidance and personal support. Each advisor strives to build authentic
relationships with students. During appointments and walk-in visits,
students can discuss sequence of courework, issues related to the
college expereince, as well as ways to overcome potential obstacles
in their programs. It is the goal of the Advising Center to provide
quality advising and to ultimately impact retention of students through
diverse programs and services.
Elementary and Secondary Education
majors are assigned to the College Advising Center as their primary
source for academic advising in the first half of their program.
Professional advisors in the Center provide academic advising and
program development to students from the time they enter the University
until they successfully complete the
Teacher
Candidacy process, which typically occurs in the second semester
of the second year of study. Once students pass Teacher Candidacy they
are assigned to a faculty advisor for the remainder of their program.
