University of Maine

School of Marine Sciences

Assistant, Associate or Full Research Professor of Marine Sciences (non-tenure track)

The School of Marine Sciences (SMS, http://www.umaine.edu/marine/) seeks interactive marine scientists whose research interests overlap those of other faculty in the School and in particular whose work would benefit from being located at the Darling Marine Center.  Examples include, but are not limited to, developmental biologists and aquaculture scientists who could use its superb flowing seawater facilities to researchers interested in ocean observing, fisheries or marine ecology who could take advantage of the proximity to diverse marine environments.

We especially seek individuals with demonstrated interest and ability in interdisciplinary collaboration between our core areas of aquaculture, marine biology, marine policy and oceanography or between them and other fields of science or engineering.    The individual must be able to demonstrate a successful history of grant submissions and awards.  The nature of a startup package and continuing support will depend on qualifications and requirements of successful applicants.

Applications should comprise a full CV including funding history, a selection of (p)reprints and a statement of research goals that demonstrate commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration as well as a list of three references from whom we may solicit further details.  Send the entire submission as a single pdf file to Sue Thibodeau <Susanne.Thibodeau@umit.maine.edu> or mail to:  360 Aubert Hall, Orono, Maine 04469.   We encourage interested parties to contact the Director of the School of Marine Sciences, Pete Jumars <jumars@maine.edu> or other SMS faculty members closely allied with their interests to learn more about the opportunities.  Review of applications will commence immediately.
