Senior Software Support Analyst

Fiscal-Year, Full-time, Exempt Position

 

The Department of Administration Systems Development and Support at the University of Maine System (UMS) is seeking a Senior Software Support Analyst. This UMPSA represented position, located in Bangor, is responsible for administering, monitoring, evaluating and configuring the UMS Sungard Advance application, extensions, related tools and interfaces.  Provides support for the application and manages communication and coordination of application related activities to stakeholders, support personnel and user communities.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.  A minimum of five years of recent experience in one or more of the following areas: managing, administering and/or supporting Sungard Advance and/or an advancement application; remote support of complex web-based applications; providing application support to a large and diverse user community.  The following abilities are required: remotely troubleshoot and resolve issues for users of web-based applications; independently research and investigate issues and formulate solutions using application documentation, external technical support groups, support sites and other sources; experience developing queries with SQL, experience with procedure-based programming language.  The employee must possess strong analytical and troubleshooting skills applicable to second-tier support of enterprise web-based applications.  Applicants must have strong organizational and communication skills and have the ability to work both as a team member and independently.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Skilled in administration, remote troubleshooting and resolution of issues supporting web-based applications in heterogeneous client environments.   Knowledge of HTML/XHTML and/or Javascript; knowledge of web development using the .NET framework; knowledge of developing reports using Crystal Reports, and experience using PL/SQL.  Skilled in support of multi-server and/or clustered applications on Oracle or similar RDBMS.   Experience in administration, management or advanced application support in a higher education or comparable environment.  Experience in application or systems support case management and escalation with vendors and other support providers.
