Family and Friends Weekend is usually at the close of UMaine's Winter Carnival Week. This weekend during Spring Semester is planned to give enough time for student groups to actively participate and be ready to perform or present for their visiting family and friends

Please join us for an exciting and enjoyable Family and Friends Weekend. This weekend will be filled with entertainment, student performances, athletic events, a craft fair and much more! We encourage all families to attend, especially those with first year students. Family and Friends Weekend is a great way to experience the University of Maine through your student’s eyes

While the schedule offers a variety of planned activities, there is also time to get to know what makes UMaine special for your family member. We encourage you to talk with your student about their UMaine friends and their favorite places.  This would be a good time to visit with your student’s roommates and their family. If he or she works on campus, Friday afternoon may be a good time to see where they work. While the dining commons and eateries on campus are open, this might also be a chance to take your student out for lunch or dinner at local restaurant.

Check back at this site regularly, as we will continue to plan additional events. As you review the schedule please note that some events will require purchased ticket and are so noted. It would be best to make arrangements ahead for tickets. A final schedule will be available in print at the Welcome table in the Memorial Union throughout the weekend.

For more information contact Barbara Smith, Staff Associate for Student Affairs at barbara.smith@umit.maine.edu or 207 581 1734.

Please be sure to stop by the Family and Friends registration table to pick up an updated schedule.
